Hanley Family – The Girls are Growing up!
It was an unexpectedly sunny day for this photoshoot along the South Side trail. But even with the sun a tad on the harsh side, we managed to get some great looks!
Enjoy!

Our Little Trip to Italy and Ireland as a Family
Our family got to visit Rome for a second time, and this time we brought our little guy along! Enjoy some of our favorite images from our trip together with us!
We landed in Rome just one day after the new Pope (Pope Francis) was selected to replace Pope Benedict.
Phoenix was super excited to be in our Roman apartment after a VERY long flight from Philadelphia.
A nice little coffee to get me going…
And Phoenix finally crashed. It took us a little while to get over the Jet Lag.
Technology is awesome. I held the entire map of Rome in my hand at all times AND it told us where we were. GPS, you’re my best friend.
We had some really great family time together. We really needed this.
Happy about the Cheeeeese! You and me both, buddy. Daddy loves his cheese!
Extra security in place with the new Pope selected.
Piazza Navona.
Who needs a photographer? We can do this by ourselves.
Mommy, yours looks better than what I have. Can I have some?
Yum!
Our apartment was just a few blocks away from the Trevi Fountain. If you’re looking for some really spacious and conveniently-located apartments you’ve got to check out Homes In Rome.
Meats! My favorite.
I envy this guy. I would quit my job to move in here for free food.
Phoenix made a little friend. They ran around together while we waited for the Pope to come out for his first Sunday.
St. Peter’s Square was PACKED.
We took a stroll out at night to visit some local shops and sceneries.
This is Valentino, and if you are ever near the Trevi Fountain, you’ve got to make an effort to find him! He makes the best gelato in Rome, I promise, and he’s super friendly and nice, which you won’t get much of that elsewhere. His shop is Gelateria Valentino.
Once we discovered him, we literally ate gelato at his shop every night.
Getting his fix of tunes off the iPad.
Heather and I freaking LOVE this photo! Look at that laugh!
At the top of Castel Sant’Angelo. You’re king of the world, Phoenix!
This is pretty much the greatest place in the world. If you go to Italy, you must visit Eataly. I wish they had these all over the United States. Five floors packed with all types of foods from all over the Italian provinces.
Our awesome friends from Ireland hosted us in their home for a few days. So not only did we get to enjoy Rome, but we flew north and got to visit two countries in one trip!
And it was windy!
Real windy.
This is the rock we brought back home for the Ireland shore. Nice pick, little guy! We of course “picked up” a couple of rocks from Rome as well… but we won’t be displaying those here
Phoenix’s ciuccio almost flew away from the wind!
By this point, all this wind was blowing so much salt water onto my lens that it became nearly impossible to focus…
But that created some pretty cool effects.
Whiskey on tap!
In Ireland, the standard spirit measure was historically 1⁄4 gill. In the Republic of Ireland, it still retains this value, though it is now legally specified in metric units as 35.5 ml.
It was kind of cool to see how liquors in Ireland are served to a specific measurement. This is the equivalent of 1.2 ounces or 1/4 GILL.
I will admit that I actually bumped up the saturation and colors of all the shots we took in Ireland. Due to the weather, the scenery was not actually this bright when we visited.
And it’s true what they say about Guiness… It tastes SO much better in Ireland.
Back to Rome, where people drive like crazy and restaurants sit you on the streets, inches away from traffic.
Street vendor at night.
This is Orlando. We bought a beautiful painting from him. If you’re ever in Rome, please go visit him and buy art from him. He’s extremely cordial and friendly, and his artwork is fantastic.
It wasn’t until our second to last night that we finally found a Neapolitan style pizza place in Rome! Our trip could now be considered complete.
Don’t cry, Phoenix. Hopefully we’ll be back soon!

Blondie Family in Downtown Pittsburgh
Who would have thought you could find such a cute little park right in Downtown Pittsburgh. A great location with a great looking family! Gotta love that bright, blond hair on their two boys!
What a grin!
Cheesing it like a pro.
Thanks guys! Good luck on your next little one! We hope to meet her soon next year.

Diana, Joe & Quentin!!
Diana and Joe were one of the first couples who booked OWSP for their wedding photos. I was so happy to see them again, and their newest addition, Quentin, who is by far one of the cutest little guys ever! And I got to see their pup Winslow again too! Enjoy!

Thanks so much for letting me photograph your beautiful family! Hopefully we will see you again!
Out on the Farm with the Corbin’s!
We absolutely adore this family. This is our third photo shoot with them an our second on their family’s farm. It was a race to beat the massive storm coming up over the hillside (which you can actually see in some of the photos) but we were able to get some great shots of fun in the barn, on the horse and playing on the playground. We really hope to keep doing photos for this family! Enjoy!
When we last saw Colton he was a newborn…craziness!!!
Little boys love to steal their dads phones =)
Colton really wanted to get his turn on the horse!
Now theres a smile
King of the Castle!
Look at that storm rolling in! We just made it!
Time for some snacks for some great kids!!
Fun with the Faists!
We have such a great love for all the families we photograph, but I think this family holds a special place in our heart! This is the fourth time we’ve had the honor of photographing the Faists, and every time we feel like a bond has grown between us. This is a family we’ve had the privilege of meeting through our photography, but definitely a group of people we now consider friends! Ella and Chloe gave us such fantastic grins and smiles and laughter to work with!

Soergel’s and ice cream family photos!
We took Jen, Jarrod & Jackson out to the Soergel Orchards for some family fun and photos. Unfortunately by the time we got there, the orchards themselves were closed off, so we sweetened the day with some ice cream instead. Jen and I went to high school together and we used to be in the same art class a few times. It’s awesome being able to do photos for people you knew once upon a time!

This is like a one in a million shots. Never have I actually convinced a boy to hug his little sister. That’s like unheard of!
I was actually expecting to get some yuck faces from the both of them
Fighting for the camera!
Love dem big shiny eyes!
A really enjoyable photo shoot with you all! Thanks again! We hope you love the photos.

Family photos at the Frick Art & Historical Center
This place is absolutely gorgeous. If you haven’t checked out the Frick Art & Historical Center, it’s worth a trip. We also had a wonderful family to photograph to match the beautiful scenery. It was really a joy!
What a cheeser! Mom was worried that he might not smile for the camera. No worries here.
So many smiles.
Thanks again guys for having us photograph your family! We really appreciated it and enjoyed it!

Schenley Park overlooking the city skyline
We did this family shoot in Schenley Park by Overlook Drive where you could see the Pitt Cathedral of Learning and the Pittsburgh skyline in the distance. As always, we got some great looks from the kids, and the parents weren’t too shabby either!
Blowing bubbles is never a bad idea when doing family photos.
What a cheeser! And what a great smile to finish off the post! It was an honor to do your photos, and we finished just in time because just an hour or so later it started to rain!

Little rain jacket and red hat in the Strip District
We had a fantastic time in the Strip District doing these family photos. We love it when families bring along a splash of color and a few cute props. And hey, balloons never hurt!
Love the intense look in her eye!
Daddy getting the job done even with his hands full.
Oooh! Reach for it! Such drama in this tiny little moment. Almost like she’s sailing away in her wagon and needs the balloons to sail to safety.
Thanks for coming so well-prepared and with such fun energy for this photo shoot. We hope you love them!

Maurer family two years later
The last time we did a photo shoot with the Maurer family for the blog, Elia was just a newborn. Now she’s a beautiful two-year-old little girl with a personality and smile all her own. This is what we really thrive for! Watching children grow is a beautiful thing!

Madeleine & Charlotte
Madeleine is such a sweetie! We are honored we were able to dress her up in little cute outfits and take some newborn shots of her! We also snagged some photos of her older sister Charlotte as she ran around with her cute self.
To check out more cute photos of Charlotte, you’ve got to take a look at Hot Metal Studio’s photo shoots with her and her parents as they watched her grow up. Great work!
Thanks for inviting us into your home and to capture some great moments!

Down by the tracks..
This is my first shoot since before the birth of our son. It was nice to get back behind the lens. My niece Meghan is turning 8 next week and we did a little modeling session for her birthday! What 8 year old doesn’t want to be a little model for her aunt! My nephew Ryder tagged along too, to play on the train tracks, and to sneak in some cheesing of his own. I love shooting members of my family. It’s so rewarding for me to go into my sisters house and see all the photos I’ve taken of Meghan and Ryder. Love you little lady! Happy Birthday!
Jim, Des & James in the Pittsburgh Fall Leaves!
It was such a pleasure being able to do photos for Jim & Des, our good friends, with their son, James, who turns one year this month! I still remember visiting them at the hospital when James was born. My, how much he’s grown since then. And the cool thing is that James has the same birth month as our boy, Phoenix. Maybe they’ll be best buds as they grow up together!
We found a nice pile of leaves and went at it with some fall fun.

Haha! Love that face by Jim!
We started our photo shoot around twilight, which made taking photos a little challenging, but also very, very rewarding!
Love you guys so much! Thanks for the opportunity to photograph your family!

Family Photos at the Children’s Museum!
It’s so amazing! When you serve as a family photographer, you get to watch these little ones grow, and we’ve come to realize that time moves really, really fast. We first photographed Sydney when she was just a newborn, and now that she’s turned one, this was our third photo shoot together with her family!
This was our second shoot at the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, a great location to shoot on rainy days… which is exactly what happened to us on this day.
Love all her curious faces! Kids are such little explorers…
This water elephant was such a perfect distraction!
Aw! Look at that little stinker face!
Thanks having me come along your day together!

Family fun at Soergel’s farms
We’ve never shot at the Soergel Orchard in Wexford before, but it turned out to be a perfect location for family photos. There is just so much for families and children to do together. This is definitely a location where I would come back again a few more times for photography!
Oh, and as it turned out, we happend to photograph here the same day Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes visited Soergels later that afternoon. Go figure.
Such sleepy boys…

Blaize & Skylee at the Dormont Park
We shot photos with this family at the Dormont Park. This was a nice location with hills, trees and a great playground. Blaize and Skylee were both really active and energetic. The temperature was in the 90′s so it made for a very sweaty shoot for us! But definitely worth every image.

The Browns in the Back Yard
Personally, I love doing photo shoots at people’s houses! It’s always a very welcoming and comfortable setting and usually the family has some great props to work with. Loved this leather sofa! And the back yard was a nice location to shoot for these two cute girls!

Take two: Here comes the sun!
The families we photograph are awesome! Last November we photographed this crew of six and it was one chilly day! The photos still turned out wonderful because both the parents and the kids were so beautiful! But Tiffany definitely wanted to do a take two once the sun came out shining. Among our very busy photo schedule, we’re thrilled we were able to get together again.
Ah! What beautiful eyes!
Loved the boots and all the outfits that mom picked for the kids. Great splash of color and style!
The best part about photographing these kids is that they really played well together and the older girls looked out for their younger brothers.
Haha! Tackle daddy! I wanted to see what it looked like for all four kids to climb all over him! Awesome.
We’re so happy the sun came out this time and that you decided to hire us again for your family pictures! Hope to see you all again soon!

Colton welcomed into the world
Newborns have always been such a wonderful joy to photograph for me, and since Heather’s pregnancy, I’ve started to look forward to these even more. These little guys and gals are not only precious, but fragile. It’s a moment of awe trying to pose these young babies for photos.
We got to photograph Colton when he was still a baby bump, so it was cool to meet this little guy face to face.
I have to say that keeping Colton in this pose was not easy. He put up quite a fight, and he was STRONG! For being only a week and a half, he could almost lift himself up off his belly. I’ve never seen that before!
Oooh! I love his little face here! He seems so mesmerized by mom!
Peek-a-boo!
Listening to daddy’s heart…
Thanks for putting up with me little guy! Especially with all those flashing lights and lenses in your face. Hopefully you won’t put up as much of a fight next time we see you

Creek Splashing Celebration
Getting those boots ready to splash in the water.
It’s rare that we get to celebrate a child’s birthday together with them and do photos of them on their actual birthday. During this photo shoot, our little niece, Mira, turned two. It’s a crazy thing watching a child grow in their early years, from developing the smallest laugh, to words, standing, walking… now Mira is on a full-fledged run everywhere she goes. I think my sister, Marta, picked the perfect location to do some family photos together. She brought us all together to this little creek that made it feel like a true moment together with family.
Mica just wanted a hug from his little sis. Hug me, Mira. Hug me.
Spring time is a great time for photos, not just because of the weather, but the sun stays out late and has a wonderful warm glow.
You know this was going to happen… Mira fell face-deep into the water.
Pull up them pants, boy!
Even though this creek was right by a park where kids were playing baseball, I felt like we could really photograph a tender and private family moment together.
Boots off!
Mira’s smile reminds me of a little tiny and adorable monster grin. Those rounded little teeth make her whole smile so adorable! Every time I’m around this little girl, all I want is to see her smile like this.
Thanks Marta & Mike for having me photograph your family! Even as busy as we have been with photographs lately, it’s always important to remember to spend whatever time we can together! Love you all!

Adventurous Adler!
So since finding out we’re expecting our first child, I (Heather) haven’t been able to get out much to do any photography. I’ve been helping a lot with lighting and what not but for someone who isn’t very skilled to begin with, especially with the logistics of the camera, taking a lot of time away can be a huge setback. Luckily I turned a corner health wise, and was able to do photos for a childhood friend.
Adler’s mom Tracy and I were involved together with cheerleading from a very early age…maybe like 3rd or 4th grade! And we went all the way to senior year. Unfortunately like most high school people we lost touch during college but thanks to facebook we’ve reconnected and I’ve been able to see her little man grow through photos. So I offered to do some photos for her and her family!
Adler was so cute and very curious while we were at the park. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with me but I managed to snag a few really cute moments!
When I first got to their home Adler was eating snacks and watching a cartoon…as soon as I pulled out my camera he turned into a little model!

Little Boys love their trucks!

Adler loved making music by banging on all the columns of the playground set…it was so cute

I was playing peek-a-boo with him here…got a few smiles from him after that! Peek-a-boo works every time even though it makes me feel like an awkward studio photographer

I love his little attitude in the picture below!

What day isn’t complete without bubbles! Although we had to put them away because the little guy wanted to eat them!

I love this next photo….I’m not nearly as talented as Michel, it’s a slow learning process, but every once in a while I come home with a good shot!

Who doesn’t love bouncing above mommy’s head??

I’m so happy the weather finally cooperated enough to get together after almost 7 years and catch up! I think the photos turned out so cute and can’t wait till June to do some of the whole family!
Pretty Little Dresses
As soon as little Austin and Saidie welcomed me in, I knew this was going to be a good photo shoot by looking at their little outfits. I was really happy that their mom went all out by getting them these little pink and brown ballerina dresses.
The front entrance was decorated in a wood-cabin look, complete with a bear rug! How freaking cool!
Mommy did an awesome job with props! We don’t like to use our own props because we don’t want to make cookie-cutter photos, but we definitely love it when our clients incorporate things of their own! This trunk was really sweet.

They look like little stars.
We found this giant pile of wood chips and I was all about it! Even better, mommy wasn’t afraid of her little girls getting dirty and play. I was so happy to hear that!
I’m not sure what this gangsta pose was about, but I liked it.
Thanks for letting me photograph your wonderful little girls! I really had a blast and enjoyed myself a lot. All the details you put into this photo shoot really made it all come together!
