Free Rock-the-Dress Photo Shoot!

Since we launched our new website, we noticed we need to build up our “Rock the Dress” portfolio.

If we did your wedding photos or if we are going to be doing your wedding photos this year, you’re eligible for a FREE Rock-The-Dress photo shoot with us!

This offer is valid only for our contracted brides and limited to three brides, so please hurry to get in touch with us!

The whole idea of a Rock-the-Dress photos is to produce bold images in rocking places where you would normally never do your formal portraits on your wedding day out of a fear of ruining your dress. We’re talking about deep in the woods, jump in the water, playing in traffic type photos.

If you’re bold enough, let’s do it!

Happy Holidays!

Our 2012 outlook!!!!

Hey all OWSP fan’s out there! We’re right in the middle of a hot and heavy loaded wedding season, and to top it off a ton of portrait sessions…and to our surprise we’ve already gotten some requests for next year! We like early planners. We just wanted to inform you what’s going on in our lives and what we have planned for next year.

In October we’re due to greet into this world our first child…a son who we have named Phoenix. As many of you know, we’re booked through October and aren’t taking any assignments and clients after that, as to make sure we take some much needed family time. We won’t be doing fall and Christmas photos this year except for our family and friends.

Starting in January we’re looking to lunge back into our photography and start booking again. But here is what our plan will look like from here on out…

We will be setting aside only one Saturday a month for family, babies, maternity, portrait and senior photography sessions. Typically we’ll book 3-4 shoots in one day. We will then set one Saturday aside to book a wedding. The other two Saturday’s will be left for Michel’s monthly army commitment and for family time. So needless to say we’re scaling back quite a  bit. That doesn’t mean we want to miss out on photographing a lot of you, but we have realized that sometimes we just need to create healthy lines for our family to grow. We’ve realized this year how precious family is and we want to spend our time honoring God by honoring each other.

So please spread the word now! We’ve booked 6 portrait sessions already for the spring so people are getting the hint and booking far enough in advance to snag us for their photography needs.

As of now, the only month we won’t be able to do weddings is June 2012 as we’ve already committed to our June wedding. But we are definitely looking too book more, even in off months (Jan, Feb, Mar, Nov, Dec)!!!

So don’t give up on us or leave us! We value everyone’s support out there and are so blessed with the gifts God has given us through this business. We are so thankful for all the amazing families and couples we’ve met in just a short span of time.

So plan ahead and keep your eye out for some amazing photography coming your way!

American Cupcakes

Congratulations to my sister Marie for completing her naturalization process and becoming an American Citizen! We love you Marie and are very happy for you!

I used these cupcakes as an excuse to exercise our Sigma 50mm macro. I really dig this glass.

Oh! And happy birthday to our two wonderful boys! Floyd turned 4 and Blake is 5… for the third time (When we first adopted him, the Animal Rescue League told us he was five, and two years later we found out he was actually 3 at the time, so for three straight years we celebrated his fifth birthday). Love our pups!

So much thanks!

Thank you to everyone who supported One Way Street Production by purchasing our photography special on www.livingsocial.com. We had so much positive response and praise and we are so appreciative. We sold 49 shoots in 1 day!!! So much to our surprise! And we had over 1300 visits to our site. We are thrilled and so excited to get started!

Please be patient with us as we answer and accommodate all requests and scheduling! It’ll keep us busy for quite a while but we’re really looking forward to it!

If you missed out on the special keep in mind we have very reasonable pricing for all shoots and we’re willing to work with anyone and everyone on a budget!

Thanks again so much everyone!

Heather and Michel Sauret

The Littlest Heroes Project

I want to proudly announce that One Way Street Production has become a photography member of The Littlest Heroes Project. The project combines photographers from around the world who are willing to sacrifice some of their photography time and talent to do something special for children in need. The project’s focus is to provide free photography sessions to families who have a child with a severe illness or disability.

Some times we take for granted our talents, and stumbling across this website gave us an opportunity to serve God through one of His most precious creation: Children. It has to be so tough being a child in constant need of medical treatment and attention, and I imagine it must be just as tough on the families.

We’ve already said time and time again that Heather and I started this business to serve Christ and honor Him with our work. I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to do just that. Families who must continually battle with medical bills and the pain of watching their child suffer don’t have the time ore money to schedule a professional photographer. And there is nothing more precious than being able to capture a child’s youth and keep it as a reminder of God’s gift of life to us.

That’s why Heather and I decided to join the project, in hope that we may serve families in such need.

If you or someone you know has a child with a severe illness, please ask The Littlest Heroes Project to schedule you an appointment with us! We would be honored to capture your memories.

A Century of Brides

If you haven’t had a chance to meet us in person yet, here is a perfect opportunity!

We have been asked to serve as the featured photographers at next week’s bridal fashion show, “A Century of Brides” hosted by the St. Peter Parish on the North Side of Pittsburgh. The fashion show is sponsored by Carlisle’s of Pittsburgh and will feature some of their gorgeous wedding dresses.

We will have a booth set up where you can look at some of our work and hopefully say hello to us! We can’t wait to meet you and get to know you better!

We will also offer a special discount just for coming to see us there! This is set up as a fundraiser to help a very historic church in the city of Pittsburgh, so come join us and show your support!

A few weeks off for him–time to play with the camera for me!

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for continuously checking back on us to see what new and exciting shoots we’ve had!! We are so thankful and blessed to see such great numbers coming to our site each and every day.

The next two weeks though, as some of you may know, Michel will be away for army leadership training. He’s out at Ft. Indiantown Gap which is pretty close to Harrisburg. So not too far away this time but still enough to make me miss him! So until he comes back we obviously don’t have any shoots booked.

He left me the camera’s and I’m gonna be messing around with them and trying to continue to familiarize myself with them, so there may be some random shots (if they’re good enough!) posted every once in a while. But please continue to check back on us, especially when he comes home (April 22) because the next 6 months or so are really busy for us!!! So lots to see coming soon!

Thanks again so much everyone. We appreciate you all so much!

~~Heather~~

A little sneak peak…

Today was a really chilly day, but thankfully tomorrow is predicted to be sunny and bright! Which is perfect for a shoot we scheduled with the Hughes family, who won a free photo shoot with us by sending us their engagement story.

Here is a little sneak peak of what we have going on for tomorrow. Heather and I drove around and found a nice little park with plenty of cool little spots within walking distance.

Think train tracks and bridges (the perfect character of Pittsburgh).

Can’t wait!

Reward yourself with a FREE photo shoot!

Just in time for spring and sunny weather! We’re offering you all a chance to earn a FREE photo shoot with us.

This is how you do it… it’s real simple.

Book a portrait session with us and spread the word to your friends. If three of your friends or family members also book a shoot with us, we will honor you with a FREE photo shoot with us the next time you book! (Photo shoots booked via Living Social don’t count as part of the three referrals)

Spread the word by telling your Facebook friends and have them become fans of One Way Street Production!

But hurry, because this offer is limited to the first ten free shoots!

Reaching out to local fundraisers

Are you a local (Pittsburgh) fundraiser looking for donations for silent auctions or other fundraising gifts? Please get in touch with us. We would love to help. Right now we are donating gift certificates worth $450.00 to local charities or fundraising events. The certificate includes a two-hour photo session (perfect for family portraits, children or senior portraits) with a 20-30 page story book type album, which we design ourselves.

Email us today! We are offering only a few of these certificates, but we would love to help your cause!

Our photography on Exhibit- Hurray!

I just received an email from The Original Magazine informing me that some of my photography (and even a photo that Heather took!) was chosen for an exhibit display at the Kimbo Gallery in the William Pitt Union at the University of Pittsburgh from January 18-29. I’ll make sure to take Heather there for our upcoming date night!

Go check it out if you get a chance!

Valentines Day—1 month away!!!

So Valentines day is exactly one month away. Girls love flowers and chocolates supposedly but how about something not so typical?! Get all dressed up and go out with us on a photo shoot! It’s the perfect way to really remember the day. Flowers die, and the man usually eats the chocolate before you get a chance so do something together that will definitely last!!!

Just give us a call or shoot us an email and we can come up with some great ideas for an amazing Valentines Day!!! You got one month!

Friend us on Facebook!

You haven’t become a fan of us on Facebook yet? Well, here is a little extra incentive. We will take $15 off your next portrait or engagement shoot just by being our friends! Just because we travel a one way street, it doesn’t mean we have to do it alone!

Check us out on facebook today!

Got a photo idea?

Hey everyone! Tomorrow I don’t have any specific photo assignments for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette so I was going to go around the city to find a couple good feature photos to submit for the paper. If you have anything interesting happening during the day or if you know of any good shot ideas, let me know! Just email me, and I’ll make sure to cover it.

Also, if you or anybody you know is doing something fun (especially if it involves the snow!) definitely shoot me an email or call me. Here is my contact information.

Thanks!

Post-Gazette.com – 2009 Year In Pictures

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette just put up a series of videos on their website looking back at photos and images from 2009. This was pretty cool because each photographer had his own little video in which he could talk about his photography process and what he enjoyed most about the work. I have been an photographer intern with the PG since September, and it’s been a tremendous learning experience. I think I first learned that I had a talent for photography with the Army during my deployment in Iraq, but I have learned a tremendous amount from the guys and gals I work with at the PG. It’s been really great.

I have my own video up among the series, called “Learning.”

Give it a look!

Navigating our Site

We’ve had some people ask us where to find archives of past shoots. So just to let everyone know on the right hand side of our page you will see a bunch of individual categories like portraits, wedding, kids, etc. This is where all postings related to those categories will be archived. So if you don’t see enough of what your looking for on the main post page, be sure to check out our galleries!!!

Also a good one to check out periodically is the UPDATES categories where you might find pricing changes, deals, specials and more. So be sure to keep an eye in there!! It helps to organize the page for sure.

Thanks for the feedback and let us know if we can help or improve anywhere else!!

Let it snow

Do you have some snow bunnies in your family?! Let us tag along on your wintery expeditions this year!

We’d have so much fun taking photos of the kids building snow men, or going snow tubing or even ice skating!! If you want to capture those awesome family moments, let us come with you!!

Just tell us where and when and we’ll catch the best moments of the day for you!!

Affordable photo shoot idea!

At One Way Street, our photography is already at the lowest and most competitive price in the Pittsburgh area, but Budgeting is a reality all families must face. Looking to take advantage of a really cheap photo shoot idea?

Schedule a photo session with another family and split the cost!

We will be happy to do one shoot for two families. You will still have us for one hour and you get to share the photos. Instead of having us for an hour all to yourself, two families can split the time and split the cost.

We will be very glad to work with you to ensure this is a fun and affordable experience!

Lightsphere

A couple of weeks ago I was shooting a wedding as an extra photographer and I saw the other photographer use a dome-looking diffuser on her flash. I was really intrigued by it because I’d never seen it before. It looked like it gave a very soft and well-spread light to her flash without having to bounce it or anything. I haven’t seen the results her diffuser had on her photos, but once they post those shots I’m curious to see how they look.

I did some looking around and I finally found the diffuser she was using. It’s called a Lightsphere and they’re pretty expensive as far as diffusers go, roughly $50-$60, but it looks very versatile and great for soft light that brings out great flesh tones. Of course, you can always touch up the photos with editing software, but you’re always better off when you have to adjust as little as possible. We’ll see how things go, but I might get myself one of those in the near future.
